Campus Helsingborg invests in public diplomacy

Researcher in strategic communication James Pamment has recently received a STINT grant of SEK 500 000 for a project in the field of communication and diplomacy.

Public diplomacy as a research field is essentially about creating the necessary conditions for the realisation of a country’s financial, political and cultural objectives through strategic communication and relationship-building activities.

Today, public diplomacy is neither a field of research nor a study subject at any higher education institution in Sweden. The subject is more common in the US, and the STINT grant will, among other things, be used towards student and researcher exchanges between Lund University and a research centre at the University of Southern California (USC).

“We want to develop these activities at Campus Helsingborg”, says James Pamment, who recently spent three years at the USC Center on Public Diplomacy.
