Public Affairs

Many organizations work actively with attempts to influence politicians and laws, both through formation of opinion and meetings with politicians. Are you interested in learning more about how public affairs is practiced? To discuss democratic and ethical aspects of this practice? Perhaps are you interested in working with public affairs? Then this is the course for you.

The aim of the course is to provide the student with theoretical knowledge and practical skills within public affairs. The course attends public affairs’ role for organizations and society, both nationally and internationally. The first part of the course deals with policy processes and the student learn to identify where and when to influence legislation in different countries. The second part focuses on the communicative aspects of public affairs and the student is trained to strategically plan public affairs through analyzing and identifying stakeholders, channels and messages. Also, democratic and ethical issues concerning public affairs are discussed in depth.

Entry requirements: For admission to the course, the student should have completed course requirements of at least 90 credits in a social science subject.

Recommended profile: As stated above, to this course we accept students with at least 90 credits in a social science subject. However, students with completed course work in the following subjects, preferably a mix of at least two subject, will benefit more from the course: Strategic Communication, Political Science, Communication and/or Media Studies, and Sociology.
