Marketing Project Manager, Spoon Agency
Why did you choose to study the Master’s programme in Strategic Communication at Lund University?
After having done my B.A. in media and communications and worked for a while, I wanted to deepen my knowledge and specialise in the field of strategic communication. I also chose to study a Master's program because I previously had studied in Australia and felt the need to build up my professional network in Scandinavia.
What is the best part of this programme and why?
The internship component was a great part of the programme as it allowed me to put theory into practice. Many courses were also rather "hands on", which I liked because they stirred great class discussions and added extra depth to the material we were learning. I'd definitely say that the best part of the programme was my fellow classmates. I learned a great deal from working with them.
In what way have your studies changed on how you look upon Strategic Communication practice?
Through my studies, I got a better grasp of strategic communication as a communication practice, and see how all the pieces come together. It's challenged the way I look at communication and helped me see how marketing, pr and organisational communication are intertwined and and can be used to achieve overall business goals. I also got to specialise in marketing and brand communication, which was an area I was particularly interested in.
How has the program helped you to pursue a career in the communication industry?
More than anything, the program gave me analytical tools that I can now use to help my organisation reach our business goals. Tying communication to tangible results – be it brand awareness, leads or sales – is even more important and that's where a master's degree in strategic communication becomes truly useful.
What are your future career dreams?
I'm really happy about where I work right now, and I'm excited to see where it leads me.
