The Department of Strategic Communication
Strategic communication deals with the deliberate communication initiatives of organisations to achieve their goals. We conduct research and education within fields which have, in recent years, become increasingly important both for society and for private and public organisations, such as branding processes, new media and democracy, crisis communication and change communication.
Our researchers contribute to the understanding and critical review of communication processes which govern and shape organisations in our society. Strategic communication is based on internationally established research within public relations, organisational communication and marketing communication.
We got our first professor in 2012, who was also the country’s first professor of strategic communication. We currently have two professors, four doctoral students and a large number of senior lecturers who conduct research within the fields we teach.
In 2007 we launched the first degree programme in strategic communication. Today we have one Master’s degree programme and two Bachelor’s degree programmes. In some semesters, we also offer free-standing courses.
We gladly cooperate with companies and organisations within both education and research. Cooperation can take the form of internships, degree projects, project work in education, participation in research projects and so on. We also work with research and education on the basis of direct commissions from private and public organisations. Among other projects, we cooperate with Helsingborg Emergency Services (Räddningstjänsten Helsingborg), water provider Sydvatten and the Swedish Association of Communication Professionals (Sveriges kommunikatörer).
