Who is Mats?

Mats Heide

Mats Heide

What is your academic background and what did you do before you started teaching at Lund University?

I have a bachelor in business administration and media and communication studies and master in media and communication. I started the Ph.D. education directly after my masters’ exam, but I have also been a communication consultant during two years.

What trends do you see in strategic communication?

From my point of view there are many researchers that are interested in organisational trust, organisational crisis and social media. So those three areas are important trends. I can also see that coworkership and listening are emergent fields.

What would the students be surprised to find out about you?

I also work as a consultant and meet regularly communication professionals. So I have both academic knowledge and practical experience that I use in my teaching.

What is one of your hidden talents?

I’m pretty skilled in cooking – especially when it comes to Italian and traditional Swedish cuisine, but also part of the Asian cuisine.

If you won the lottery and decided to give up teaching/researching, what would you do instead?

I would then directly buy a flat in the Italian Alps and be skiing during the winter season.
