Approved leave from studies

If you want to take approved leave from your studies for a semester or more, you must apply to the department. The study advisors will receive your application and answer your questions.

In the application, you are to state your reasons for applying for approved leave from your studies. These could be related to work, other studies or private reasons.

Applications are normally approved for one or two semesters at a time. Leave is not authorised during the first semester of your degree programme. If your leave is approved, the decision will be registered in LADOK and you will receive confirmation via email.

If you discontinue your studies you can request non-completion. A request for non-completion is made to the study advisors and then entered in LADOK. If you discontinue your studies without requesting approved leave, you may lose the right to resume studying at a later date.

Here you will find the form for application for approved leave from studies (pdf).

If you have any questions, please contact the Study Advisory Service.
