STUDENTS - Transition to distance education from March 18, 2020

utrop

Lund University is following the Government and Public Health Authority’s new recommendations regarding measures to reduce the spread of the coronavirus.
The University has therefore decided that education and examinations should be conducted using online alternatives (distance education) from 18 March. University facilities will remain open.

Dear student,

The Swedish Public Health Authority, the Swedish Government, and the management of Lund University have now changed their guidelines for our activities. In order to assist in curbing the Covid-19 (corona virus) spread in the society, all our teaching will be done online from now on. At the present we do not know for how long. This might entail adjustments of the syllabi.

Your teachers will provide you with detailed instructions concerning your course.

Students will have continued access to Campus Helsingborg. The Campus Helsingborg library will remain open and accessible to students. At least one computer room will remain open.

As stated previously, our highest priority is to uphold teaching and make it possible for you to follow your courses and graduate according to plan as far as possible. If you are worried over your internship, exchange studies, thesis etc., I understand completely, but rest assured that we will not allow your degree to be jeopardized even if details in teaching have to be adjusted.

No international travel within education and no international exchange that has not already started is allowed until 30 June. Please observe that the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs discourages any international travel for Swedish citizens. All visits from international guests have been cancelled.

To our international students: I understand that some of you are especially worried. Perhaps the situation in your country is difficult. You are not able to follow Swedish news like native speakers and might hear conflicting reports from international sources. Radio Sweden is a reliable English language news source: https://sverigesradio.se/radiosweden

Additionally, maybe your country or your home university will ask you to return home. In any case, I promise that we will do what we can to ensure that you can finish your education with us. From our perspective, you are most welcome to stay. Contact us if you experience any problems with your stay or your studies.

All staff and students are encouraged to provide their mobile telephone number in Passport. We can then send text messages to you if we need to.
1. Go to the account management portal Passport
2. Log in as “User”
3. Select “Verification of contact information”
4. Follow the instructions.

We would also like you to make sure that you have a correct email address registered in LADOK/the Student Portal. In this way, you will get information from the department.

Finally, I would like to ask you to follow guidelines and advice from Swedish public authorities and from Lund University management. You find updated information at https://www.staff.lu.se/article/information-about-the-coronavirus-for-staff-and-students

We are going to get through this spring together! Thank you for your cooperation.

Warm regards,
Nils Gustafsson
